Collages from 2007

These collages where made from bits of paper from old books. The faces are made by cutting up images and pasting them down, layer after layer, until they look like faces.

Here is a little collage I did as a study. Hope you like it.

Back in the Swing

After a very difficult 2008, I think I'm finally back on track. I've added some new art things to my etsy.com store janelanglois.etsy.com and started a new store so I can "destash" some of my collections, refinerynh.etsy.com.

I love robots.....

I think she's done. I was going to add a white wash to her dress but I like the way it is now. What do you think? The black stripe on top of the canvas is just the edge of the canvas and not part of the painting.

As if I don't have enough on my plate, here is a new painting/collage I'm working on for an upcoming show. The model is a vintage boudoir doll. This painting needs to get done by the end of September. The painting is 60" tall, that's 5 feet ... what was I thinking???

I thought I'd add her to my blog and ask all of you for your opinion, advice, thoughts....

I drew her in green oil paint on a green background. Then I pasted torn pieces of pattern tissue to form her dress.

8/19/07: I've added some dark areas to the figure, painted the background red and toned down her dress with a red glaze. (photo coming soon)

I'll be adding more pictures as I progress.

Now I've gone and committed myself to finishing this....
